SION has well furnished hostel within the office complex. Staying in the hostel is compulsory for all students admitted to SION. Each hostel room has attached bath room with 24 hours hot and cold water. The room is furnished with bed, mattress, pillow, study chair and table, book self, closet for clothes etc. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals are provided to the students. The hostel mess is managed by an able and qualified contractor. The institute has provided a well furnished kitchen. Detailed hostel rules and regulation will be provided at the time of admission and student orientation.



 
       
 
There are three well-equipped learning resource points. A Nursing Skills Lab provides opportunities to practice technical teaching practices. Basic teaching aids such as overhead projector, slide projector, TV, VCR, VCD, models, posters and charts are also available. The computer room and learning resource center provide opportunities to develop cognitive areas


 
       
 
The library is a major learning resource center of any modern educational institution. SION has wide range of books required for the ADN program. Most of the books are US edition. At present the library opens for 8 hours in a day from 9 am to 5 pm (Sunday-Friday) except public holidays. More than 500 text books and reference books are available and will be added more in due course of time. E-mail facilities and Internet access has upgraded the library service.

   
      
 
SION has a modern computer lab with adequate number of computer. The computer studies have been introduced as a part of their regular curriculum. The students will have an opportunity to enhance their potentiality with the available E-mail and Internet facilities.

 
        
 
A well equipped and displayed nursing learning resource center has been designed to provide a high level of support to the teaching and learning program. In addition a wide range of medical equipments, posters, charts and models are placed to facilitate practical learning and improve knowledge and skills.

 
       
 
Students are required at least two days per week clinical practice in hospital and nursing homes to acquired practical knowledge and skills. For this purpose SION has made an agreement with Medical Colleges, Teaching Hospital and Nursing. Transportation to all clinical experiences is the responsibility of SION.

Before a student can progress to a clinical experience the following requirements must be met:
1. Proof of professional liability insurance purchased.
2. Proof of CPR certification (annually)
3. Proof of MMR immunity.
4. Proof of Hepatitis B immunity.
5. Proof of TB test (annually).
6. Proof of varicella immunity.

 
      
 
Regular internal assessment tests and examinations will be routinely conducted to ensure the training quality and to evaluate on going progress of an individual student. Every student must set in the final semester examination and practical test. The result of every assessment, test and examination will be provided to the individual student with comments and suggestions for improvement.

 
      
 
Students are required to wear uniforms of specified color and materials in order to maintain acceptable degree of uniform and identity. Students will not allow in the class without uniform. The detailed specifications of uniforms are given below:

SION prides itself in having well-trained admin and faculty staff. The faculty of SION is composed of leaders and experts with international experience. The Academic Director has received her doctorate degree from University of Wisconsin, USA and has extensive work experience in Asia and the US. A number of EKU faculty members from the US will provide training to teachers and participate in teaching as well. The faculty team will continuously monitor each student’s progress and provide counseling.

 
     
 
Unnecessary visitors, friends and relatives of staff and students are discouraged. Visitors with the specific objective are welcome to the institute. During the week day students’ parents and close relatives are allowed to visit SION and discuss with their student at the visitors’ room. Visitors are not allowed to visit hostel and the main building. Exceptional cases are top be brought to the notice of management for consideration.

 
    
 
Students should follow the code of conducts developed for class room and hostel.
The students are expected to maintain very high degree of discipline in and around the college and teaching hospital.
Students must obtain the identity card in the beginning of the session and must be possessed through out the session.
